Solution to background color issue with nested DIV blocks

I just found a simple solution to an issue I've been having for a long time. Many times, I create a wrapper element that contains nested columns in my web designs. For example:

KIller business cards

I've always had a thing for business cards. As a kid, I used to collect them. (come to think of it, next time I'm at my parents, I should see if I can dig them up...) I'd ride my bike up and down the main drag, going into every store to get business cards. Every time relatives would come over, they'd bring me a couple more. I even had special books to store them in!

Another great design & development tool: resizeMyBrowser

I was turned on to another great design and development tool via Twitter; resizeMyBrowser.com

When you visit the site, you are presented with a grid of preset screen resolution buttons for popular screen resolutions as well as resolutions for popular devices like the iPhone, iPad, and Droid. Clicking one of these buttons resizes your browser window to that exact resolution.

Why is this useful?

Customize your company's Facebook page

Great article on customizing Facebook pages on Smashing Magazine. I had NO idea you had any sort of creative control creating custom pages on Facebook. I will certainly be revisiting this article in a week or so when I have some time to get back to our Facebook presence.

Let me know if this helps you at all. I'd love to see your links!

How good sites go bad

A client of mine posted this link on my Facebook page. She hoped she wasn't like the client portrayed here:

"How a Web Design Goes Straight to Hell"

The client who setn me this was not bad at all.

However...

I have dealt with clients EXACTLY like this, and it is VERY difficult. At some point, the relationship and money are no longer with the time and pain.

Do you have any client horror stories?

EricBrouwer.com gets a facelift!

Welcome to the new and (hopefully!) improved site.  This site is built on the Drupal framework.  I started out with a theme by RoopleTheme, and then heavily modified it.  Only the basic layout remains the same!
